Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell

Le’Veon Bell continues to be one of the most versatile and explosive running back in the NFL. Unfortunately for the Steelers, Bell is once again holding out during training camp and preseason in search for a better contract. It will likely be his last season playing the black and gold if he does show up at all.

Last season when Bell held out all of the preseason, it took him a few games to get going. Not having the preseason forced him to play his first live action in week one of the regular season. Yet Bell had a remarkable overall season finishing with 1,291 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground and another 655 yards and two touchdowns through the air in 15 games.

He led all running backs last season in rushing attempts and ranked third in rushing yards. He also ranked second in targets among all running backs last year. His first two games will likely be a slow start much like last season, but as an overall year, he should stack up plenty of points for your fantasy team.

The reason that I have him ranked fifth when he is such an explosive player that changes entire games is the fact that the Steelers offense has a lot of question marks. Given the relationship between the Steelers and Bell, there’s the chance of a dropoff if that feud gets in the way. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is getting older, and if he takes a step backward this season, it could land on Bell’s shoulders to carry them to the playoffs.
