New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley

Saquon Barkley was a monster during his three-season career at Penn State. He rushed for over 1,000 yards each of his three seasons and totaled 53 touchdowns while adding another through the air. He’s the perfect weapon to add to this Giants offense that had major struggles last season.

With the return of Odell Beckham Jr. to the offense and the rest of the weapons quarterback, Eli Manning has to throw to, defenses will have a tough time stacking the box to focus on Barkley. New York was in desperate need of a game changer at the running back position this offseason after only rushing for 3.9 yards per carry as a team.

The coaching staff in New York only makes me think even more highly of what Barkley could do this season. With Pat Shurmur coming over from Minnesota to take over as the head coach and Mike Shula coming over as offensive coordinator from Carolina, it would seem that Barkley will also be heavily used in the passing game as well for the Giants.

Barkley was strongly considered to be the number one overall pick in this year’s draft, and the Giants landed a stud with their second overall pick. Many believe that he could have a season much like Kansas City’s Kareem Hunt or New Orleans’ Alvin Kamara. I see no reason why he couldn’t have that kind of production during his rookie season.
