Kansas State Football gets over the Cornhusker slump

The big bully neighbors from the North had picked on Kansas State for 30 years. It had been 30 years since the Wildcats had defeated the Cornhuskers. It took the best team Snyder ever coached to do it.

The Wildcats were the No.1 team in the nation by the time these two met up. Snyder had shaped the program into a national powerhouse. Michael Bishop was the Wildcats quarterback, who led Kansas State to an undefeated regular season and a chance at a national title.

Bishop had a rough start to the game with three lost fumbles in the first half. They trailed Nebraska at the half 17-14, it was the first time all season that the Wildcats found themselves playing from behind. This was pretty impressive for being week 10.

Bishop bounced back, along with the defense. The back and forth match between David and Goliath left Wildcat fans on the edge of their seats. Bishop hit Darnell McDonald for a score with just over five minutes left to retake the lead once and for all. The defense came up with a score of their own in the closing seconds that sealed the deal.
