GEHRIG DIETER

Ah yes, one of the “dark horse” candidates a lot of people are pegging to make the final roster is Gehrig Dieter. Dieter played at both Bowling Green and Alabama and went undrafted in 2017. The Chiefs scooped him up and kept him on the practice squad last year.

Dieter’s best collegiate season came in 2015 at Bowling Green where he had 94 receptions for 1,033 yards and ten touchdowns. That production shows he’s capable of being a legitimate wide receiver, but unfortunately his one season at Alabama wasn’t even close to comparison.

Despite playing for the National Championship that year, Dieter wasn’t utilized a ton. He had just 15 receptions for 214 yards and likely would have been a bigger name heading into that year’s draft had he remained at Bowling Green.

Instead, Dieter is in his second year with the Chiefs and is trying to make a name for himself. He was targeted twice on Thursday night, grabbing one catch for a six-yard completion. While it wasn’t a dazzling performance, Dieter will have more time to show his worth down the road and has a better chance at making the roster than a lot of the guys on this list.
