Who will make the roster as the third quarterback?

The Chiefs are once again in training camp with four quarterbacks. Outside of Mahomes, all three of the other quarterbacks are new to the system. Kansas City brought in veterans like Matt McGloin and Chad Henne this offseason and UDFA rookie Chase Litton as well.

From everything we have heard up to this point, the gameplan is for Henne to be the second string quarterback. The eleven-year veteran has the most experience to put behind the first-year starting quarterback. His spot is not locked in, however.

McGloin signed a big deal with the Chicago Bears last offseason only to see his spot go to a rookie quarterback and then dropped this offseason. The five-year veteran will have to battle against Litton for that third spot on the roster.

Litton has had some excellent camp practices with the Chiefs so far. How he looks in a real game situation will be essential if he wants to remain in Kansas City. Andy Reid typically likes to keep a project quarterback at the third spot like he did for many years with Tyler Bray most recently. Litton could be the next project if he beats out McGloin for a roster spot.

Keep an eye out for who is producing the most. Henne will most likely get the second string start in the second quarter, but if he continues to struggle like I’ve seen in camp, he could be finding himself battling for a roster spot as well.
