CHIEFS VETERANS THAT COULD BE CUT

CHARCANDRICK WEST – Running back

The Chiefs currently have a bunch of running backs in camp vying for backup roles. Among them is Charcandrick West. While West appears to be the third guy currently, his roster spot could very well be dependent on the health of Spencer Ware, who appears to be healthy, in his return from a 2017 season ending injury during the preseason.

The question, and we’ll get to him in a minute, is with an offense that appears at least from a distance to be passing more (and downfield) do the Chiefs want to spend decent cap resources and a roster spot on multiple running backs?

The question simply and likely comes down to him or Damien Williams and production at what price. Williams carries close to a million dollars cheaper this season than West (1.137 million compared to West’s 2.036). That’s a difference basically of 900K.

Moving on from West would save the Chiefs 1.703 million in cap space this season with 333K in dead money.
