No matter what, the Wildcats will have to get by Oklahoma

The Sooners enter the 2018 season as one of the four playoff teams from 2017. Gone is Baker Mayfield and other significant pieces, but in are a bunch of five-star recruits and MLB prospect and current member of the A’s organization, Kyler Murray.

The Sooners didn’t skip a beat with Lincoln Riley under the headset. They stormed through most of the competition to make the playoffs before losing to Georgia double overtime.

The Wildcats have had a tough time against the Sooners. Other than the 2003 Darren Sproles Championship and in 2012 and 2014, The Sooners have dominated the series since the mid 90’s.

If this ends up being a heavyweight fight, look for the Sooners to knock the Wildcats out early. Kansas State will need to score early and often to keep Lincoln Riley’s offense at bay.

It’s possible the Wildcats face Oklahoma twice this year. The second game, of course, would be in the Big 12 Championship game.

The Wildcats have a shot to get there, but they will have to go at least 2-2 against these four teams. K-State will be an underdog in each of these games, and despite the tough schedule, they have a shot at doing something special.
