BEST GAMES OF MAHOMES’ COLLEGIATE CAREER – NUMBER 5

TEXAS TECH VS LOUISIANA TECH – SEPTEMBER 17, 2016

Honestly, this game could have been number one when it came to Patrick Mahomes’ best collegiate games, but I took the opponent into account. Don’t get it twisted though, Mahomes lit it up against LA Tech early in the 2016 season.

Louisiana Tech put up a fight in this game too, as most teams did against Texas Tech’s lackluster defense, but Mahomes had himself a game. He and Jonathan Giles connected on three touchdowns, with two coming in the first quarter, one for 64 yards and one for 36 yards. The third Giles touchdown was a 42 yard strike in the second quarter.

Mahomes also connected with Dylan Cantrell for a nine-yard pass and later with Cameron Batson in the third quarter on four-yard pass. Mahomes continued his impressive day by running in a touchdown late in the game.

Texas Tech won this game by double digits, but Louisiana Tech kept it close enough that Mahomes had to stay in the game and make plays, which he did beautifully.

STATS: 26 of 36 for 470 yards, 5 passing touchdowns, 37 rushing touchdowns, 1 rushing touchdown
