BEST GAMES OF MAHOMES’ COLLEGIATE CAREER – NUMBER 6

TEXAS TECH VS ARIZONA STATE – SEPTEMBER 10, 2016

Here’s yet another game where Mahomes showed up big time and his team still faltered. He did throw two interceptions against the Arizona State Sun Devils, but more than made up for it with his five touchdown passes.

There was A LOT of scoring in this one, indicated by the 68-55 final in favor of the Sun Devils. Mahomes had a short touchdown run early in the game, but was sacked in the end zone a few series later resulting in a safety for another team. That’s never good.

He didn’t let that stop him from having a day though, tossing a 59 yard touchdown to Derrick Willies and later hitting Justin Stockton on a 75 yard score. His other three touchdown passes were an 11-yard beaut to Dylan Cantrell, a 13-yard pass to Jonathan Giles, and later a booming 66-yard pass to Cameron Batson late in the game.

By the time that pass to Batson happened, the Red Raiders were trailing 65-48 and didn’t have much chance to win the game. Mahomes might have thrown two picks, but he had six total touchdowns on the day and gave his team every chance to win. That’s all a team can ask from its quarterback.

STATS: 38 of 53 for 540 yards, 5 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, 44 rushing yards, 1 rushing touchdown
