BEST GAMES OF MAHOMES’ COLLEGIATE CAREER – NUMBER 7

TEXAS TECH VS OKLAHOMA – NOVEMBER 15, 2014

No, this isn’t the big game you’re probably thinking of (which we’ll get to later), but Patrick Mahomes did have another impressive games against the Oklahoma Sooners. That game came in November 2014 when the Red Raiders hosted the Sooners in Lubbock.

Baker Mayfield wasn’t the quarterback for the Sooners in this game, but Oklahoma’s running attack managed to keep them afloat in this one. Mahomes struck first, clicking with Jakeem Grant for a six-yard score 12 minutes into the game.

It took a 59 yard pass to Ian Sadler late in the second quarter to put TTU ahead at half time. Texas Tech was leading by as much as 21-7 at one point after Mahomes and Devin Lauderdale connected on a 47 yard touchdown pass.

The Red Raiders fell out of it in the second half, with OU’s run game taking over, mainly Samaje Perine, who rushed for 213 yards and three touchdowns. Mahomes managed to hit Dylan Cantrell for a touchdown with no time remaining on the clock, but that only made it 42-30 in favor of the Sooners.

This was one such game in which Mahomes proved he could do as much as possible and his Red Raiders could still lose. He threw no picks and made little mistakes, but his team dropped to 3-7 after this defeat.

STATS: 27 of 50, 393 yards, 4 passing touchdowns, 12 rushing yards
