Chiefs fans know what Patrick Mahomes accomplished statistically during his tenure at Texas Tech. The kid was able to sling the football all over the field and he also had the ability to run with the football as well.

The game against the Sooners in 2016, despite ending as a loss for Mahomes, was the best game of his career. Admit it, Chiefs fans. You might have known who Mahomes was before this game, but he didn’t become a draft target to you until after that 700+ yard performance against Oklahoma.

Obviously Mahomes won’t replicate that game in the NFL, it just isn’t possible, he has a good chance to become something the Kansas City Chiefs haven’t had in a long time: A franchise quarterback. If Mahomes goes out there and lights it up in his first full year of being KC’s quarterback, fans will really buy into this guy and have high hopes for the future.

As for now, we only have his college games, a handful of preseason games, and his lone start against the Broncos last year to go off of for the time being. Mahomes put up the stats in college, but can he do in the pros?

Only time will tell. Chiefs fans are ready to find out.
