The Kansas City Chiefs traded up to draft Patrick Mahomes with the tenth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Looking at Mahomes’ stats at Texas Tech is the easiest explanation as to why they did that.

Patrick Mahomes set the world on fire while quarterbacking the Texas Tech Red Raiders from 2014-2016. Mahomes is third all-time in passing yards and also third all-time in passing touchdowns for the Red Raiders.

His electric numbers while in Lubbock propelled Mahomes into becoming a first round prospect in the 2017 NFL Draft where the Kansas City Chiefs jumped at the chance to trade up and draft him. Mahomes was going to be their future franchise quarterback and Chiefs fans couldn’t be more thrilled.

With Mahomes’ first full season as the Chiefs starting quarterback inching closer every day, I thought it’d be fun to take a trip down memory lane and revisit the best games from his college career.
