Royals Rumors: Potential teams Mike Moustakas could be traded to

TEAMS MOOSE COULD BE TRADED TO – ST. LOUIS CARDINALS

As much as Royals fans don’t want to hear it, the St. Louis Cardinals are a suitor in the Mike Moustakas sweepstakes. The big thing with the Cardinals will be if they’re still feeling like they’re in contention or not, as right now they’re seven and a half games out of first place in the division and four games out of the second Wild Card spot.

The Cardinals also just fired their manager recently, so they could potentially be headed toward a crash in the second half. If they manage to stay afloat and in contention, however, I could definitely see Moustakas fitting in with the Red Birds. After all, the two were linked together frequently this offseason, but nothing obviously ever came from it.

Ken Rosenthal of The Atlantic first broke the news about St. Louis being a potential landing spot for Moose at the deadline. Rosenthal had said there was “renewed interest” in Moustakas and that if they acquired him, they could shift Matt Carpenter either to first base or second base.

St. Louis is certainly in the running for Moose’s services, but they play in a tough division. Their best bet to make the playoffs right now is to get in as a Wild Card and Moustakas would be someone who could help them obtain that goal.
