Royals rumors have been underway for the last few months, but Mike Moustakas is still with the team. Who will get traded to?

The Kansas City Royals have the next few days off from playing (hold your jokes please) and that makes this the perfect time to look at all of the teams interested in trading for Mike Moustakas. Moose is going to get traded, as the Royals don’t really have a legitimate reason to keep him.

No, the Royals probably won’t get as big of a haul as they’re hoping for Moustakas, but teams just aren’t willing to shell out top prospects for rental players anymore. Why couldn’t that have been the case in 2015? Kidding, of course. The 2015 World Series title was worth it.

With Moustakas being on a one-year deal, the Royals have to trade him at the deadline. There are teams interested in acquiring the former first round pick and that’s where we’ll look now. Which teams are currently linked to the Royals third baseman? Let’s take a look.

TEAMS MOOSE COULD BE TRADED TO – PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES

The Phillies turned things around this season and that’s why their front office could be desperately looking at guys like Mike Moustakas and wanting to pull the trigger on a trade. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic linked the Phillies to Moustakas, but Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia had also mentioned that Royals scouts were keeping an eye on Philadelphia’s farm system.

Salisbury’s article mentioned that while the Phillies were starting to feel more comfortable with their third baseman Maikel Franco, but that a big bat like Moustakas’ would only help the Phillies with their postseason run. He’s certainly in the right there, as Moose has been to the playoffs before and knows how to compete in the biggest of stages.

While it’s been noted several times in the news (including Soren Petro’s tweet above), the Phillies probably wouldn’t shell out a ton in exchange for Moustakas. They would be a nice fit for the third baseman though. Philadelphia is a team I wouldn’t mind seeing Moose suit up for in the next few months. They have a sneaky good team and Moose would be a good fit there.
