This 2017 week two defensive player of the week will hopefully become a household name in year three of his career. Thankfully Jones has a couple of seasons left on his rookie contract, but will most likely look to command bigger money at the end of that contract.
The 6’6’, 300 plus pound defensive end is a disruptive force for opposing offenses and his fun loving demeanor makes him a beloved Chief, even if he never will play quarterback for KC. Chiefs Kingdom should be glad to have a young talent like Jones on the roster. Steady improvements early in his career could potentially turn him into a Calais Campbell like force later on.
When the Chiefs moved out of the first round in the 2016 NFL draft, some Chiefs fans may have been scratching their heads. Then, drafting Jones with their first pick that year may have caused even more head scratching, but the Chiefs knew what they were getting.
After watching Jones tally three sacks, two fumbles, and an interception against the eventual Super Bowl champion Eagles, Chiefs fans had reason to agree. As the Chiefs defense improves this year watch for Jones to be a big part of the reason why.
