BEST GAMES OF THE ANDY REID ERA

NOVEMBER 15TH, 2015 VS DENVER BRONCOS

Earlier in the year, the Denver Broncos straight up stole a win from the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday Night Football. The Chiefs had forced five turnovers in that game, but lost because rather than knee the ball and go to overtime, Andy Reid had the team hand the ball off, Jamaal Charles fumbled, the Broncos recovered and took it the other way for the game winning touchdown. Yeah, that actually happened.

That win was the beginning of five straight losses for the Chiefs, but they turned things around and were 3-5 by the time their second match-up against the Broncos arrived. Denver was 7-1 and looked to be running away with the division as per usual, but the Chiefs had something special in store for the Donkeys.

Peyton Manning wasn’t the same guy he once was. Up until this game, he had lost to Kansas City just once in his long tenured career, but the Chiefs had a parting gift for him in week ten.

On Manning’s first pass of the game, rookie Marcus Peters picked it off. Manning was picked off a total of four times in this game and would end the day with just four completions for 35 yards. He was benched by the end of the game. The Kansas City Chiefs got Peyton Manning benched.

Kansas City would go on to win 29-13 and kept their winning streak going. It was even sweeter that it came against the Broncos too, who had been a team that had KC’s number since Manning joined them in 2012. The Chiefs got to give Manning a big middle finger in his final game against them and it was a nice form of payback after all of the torching he had done to them over the years.

  • Alex Smith threw for 204 yards and a touchdown.
  • Charcandick West rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown. He also had three receptions for 92 yards and a score.
  • Peyton Manning ended the day going five of 20 for 35 yards and four interceptions. It might have been the worst game of his career and resulted in getting him benched for several weeks (though an injury rumor was the “main reason”).
  • Brock Osweiler got to play football for once. He threw for 146 yards, one touchdown, and an interception, giving KC five picks on the day.
  • Eric Berry, Josh Mauga, Ron Parker, Marcus Peters, and Sean Smith had the five interceptions.
  • Derrick Johnson and Mike DeVito each had a sack on Manning.

This game makes the list because for one, it was against the stupid Broncos. They had swept Kansas City for three straight years, but NOT THIS TIME. It was also great for Peyton Manning to finally look human against the Chiefs and not only that, but to look AWFUL. Even my mom, who LOVES Peyton Manning, was laughing when he got picked off for the third time.

The 2015 season started off poorly, but this game was when I really thought things were about to get really special for the Chiefs.
