Watkins only needs three catches versus the Jets

In his first game against the New York Jets, Watkins only had three catches. He made the most of those catches and turned them into 157 yards with a touchdown, as seen below.

This is also the game where he made quite the mistake. Another fine example of celebrating prematurely. Had he not slowed down, his numbers would have been even more impressive with an added touchdown.

This performance again proves that he can be a game changer, even if he’s only targeted six times in a game. The more I watch Watkins, the more I feel like he is right on the cusp of elite stardom.

There’s a chance he is the leading receiver by the end of the season. Unreal how good the duo of Hill and Watkins can be for years to come. Quite literally, and that word shouldn’t be used in the wrong context, there will be someone open each and every pass play.

It will be up to Mahomes to find the open man and the offensive line to protect long enough. Watkins is such an underrated addition to the Kansas City Chiefs. The franchise has never had a true No. 2 receiver even remotely as talented as Watkins. That can’t be expressed enough. No disrespect to all the former No. 2 receivers. As good as Chris Conley can be, he can’t do what Watkins can do.

Dare I say that Watkins is the true No. 1 guy by season’s end.
