Sammy Watkins dominates with game-winner versus the Vikings

In Watkins’ seventh game as a pro, he showed the NFL world how dangerous he could be. That season the Buffalo Bills were sitting at 3-3 as the Minnesota Vikings came to town with a 2-4 record.

With former Kansas City Chief Kyle Orton at starting quarterback for the Bills, Watkins was easily his favorite target. Orton threw his way 14 times throughout the game, catching nine for 122 yards and two touchdowns.

Those two touchdowns were the only scores by Buffalo other than a 31-yard field goal by Dan Carpenter.

Watkins first touchdown came with 9:23 left in the 2nd quarter. His second touchdown grab won the Bills the game.

After a deep pass from Orton to Kevin Hogan put the Bills at the one-yard line, Orton spiked the ball with one second remaining. Down 16-10, Watkins ran a simple out-pattern as Orton placed the ball perfectly as Watkins dragged his feet before going out of bounds. Touchdown!

The video isn’t spectacular, but imagine Arrowhead Stadium reacting this way in 2018. Clutch indeed.
