DRAFTED KC ROYALS IN THE COLLEGE WORLD SERIES – JACKSON KOWAR

Oddly enough, the KC Royals took two pitchers from Florida with their first two picks. The second one – taken 33rd overall – was Jackson Kowar, Singer’s right-hand man in Gainesville. Kowar was the second starter in the Gators’ rotation during the regular season and got the ball for Game 2 of the Super Regionals against the Auburn Tigers.

Kowar impressed mightily in that game. He pitched seven innings of one-run baseball while allowing three hits, striking out six batters, and issuing zero walks. The Gators went on to lose the game, but it wasn’t because of Kowar. He did everything he could to help his team win that day.

Kowar will likely see the mound for Game 2 this weekend and depending on how Florida’s first game goes, it could be an elimination game for the Gators. Kowar did great in his first game after being drafted, so hopefully he continues to go out there and pitch well.

Florida’s first game is on Sunday at 6:00 and their second game will depend on the results of the other game on that side of the bracket (Arkansas vs Texas). We’ll know more about Kowar’s next start then.
