Kansas Basketball: Best Jayhawks currently in the NBA
By Chris Taylor
Josh Jackson is already one of the best Jayhawks in the league
Josh Jackson had a very productive rookie campaign this past season, putting him on the list. Jackson was drafted by the Pheonix Suns with the fourth overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft.
His freshman and only year at Kansas he averaged 16.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 3 assists per game. These numbers allowed him to become the Big 12 Freshman of the Year and Sporting News 2nd team All-American.
Jackson started the season as the Suns’ starting power forward, but during the third game of the season, he made a certain gesture toward Clippers fans and was fined $35,000.
Jackson spent time at both forward positions as well as time at shooting guard. Josh started 35 of 77 games played his rookie year, averaging 13.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest.
As long as his rookie year is a sign of things to come, he will become one of the better Jayhawks to have played in the NBA, all-time. He was awarded a spot on the NBA All-Rookie Second Team for his efforts.
