Another early playoff exit spells failure

Chiefs fans are used to early playoff exits. Their sole win in decades coming against a Houston Texans team not worth the celebration. Kansas City needs a deep playoff run like the Royals need an overhaul.

Last year the Chiefs lost to the Titans at Arrowhead by one after being up 21-3. In 2016 they lost by two at home against Pittsburgh. 2015 saw the Chiefs beat the Brian Hoyer-led Texans to lose by seven in the next round to the Patriots. That win against Houston was the first playoff win since 1993. Who could forget the epic meltdown against the Colts in 2013?

The Chiefs can’t have that same result this year. There are naysayers that don’t believe the playoffs are anywhere near possible with all the changeover, but the Chiefs should be the favorite in the West until someone knocks them off.

So what does another early exit mean? It means that what the Chiefs are trying to do isn’t working, meaning that a possible change near the top may be in order. That, or a major overhaul that would put this offseason to shame.
