There is a lot of positive hype surrounding the Kansas City Chiefs for the upcoming season. It could all come crashing down if these five things happen.

The excitement surrounding the Kansas City Chiefs for the 2018 season is warranted. The offense that Brett Veach and company have put together shows signs of being near unstoppable. The defense, however, will be a crapshoot.

The Kansas City Chiefs will be looking for their third straight division title under sophomore quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes has all the tangibles and then some to become a successful quarterback in the league, how he will perform week in and week out is still up in the air.

Kareem Hunt returns as the leagues leading rusher, as well as the best tight end in football, Travis Kelce. Tyreek Hill, the fastest man in football will get plenty of down-field chances with Mahomes’ throwing power. Newcomer Sammy Watkins rounds out possibly the most dangerous offense in the league.

The leader of the defense returns after missing the season due to a torn ACL. Eric Berry is possibly the most valuable player on any team in the league. The majority of experience on the defensive side of the ball comes from Berry and linebacker Justin Houston.

Since the Chiefs went with all defensive players during the draft, chances are most of them will see the field right away. Breeland Speaks, Armani Watts, and Derrick Nnadi all have a chance to start, and Dorian O’Daniel will get situational playing time more than likely.

Despite the high hopes for the Chiefs, things could come crashing down quickly, causing the 2018 season to implode. Let’s hope these five things don’t happen.
