DARREL WILLIAMS

It was a bit surprising to see Darrel Williams go undrafted, but he did just that. The LSU product played second fiddle to Leonard Fournette for a good chunk of his college career and to Derrius Guice last year. Kansas City added him to their crowded back field and many seem to think the guy could actually compete for a roster spot.

Williams rushed for 820 yards with nine touchdowns last year while grabbing over 330 yards through the air. This summer will be crucial for Williams to step it up because the Chiefs have a ton of running backs on the depth chart.

Obviously Kareem Hunt is a given, but there’s also Spencer Ware, Charcandrick West, Damien Williams, and Kerwynn Williams. Darrel Williams has two other guys with the last name Williams to battle against this summer and could be someone who makes it through to the regular season.

Ladner Morse of Arrowhead One wrote up a whole article on Williams and what to watch with him and this stood out the most,

"Darrel Williams can accelerate with the best of them and although his top end speed will not win him any track medals, he has enough gas in the tank to do damage when he sees a hole. He’s not elusive but can hand out punishment as well as take it. You’ll never hear anyone question his ability to hit and be hit. In fact, Williams appears to thrive on it."

It’s always smart to go younger when it comes to the running back position and Williams is fresh out of college. If he looks even half as good as he did during his college days then the Chiefs should be able to find a place for him on their roster.
