BEN NIEMANN

Somehow Ben Niemann managed to go undrafted this year and the KC Chiefs wisely scooped him up after the draft was over. Niemann had 199 tackles through four years while playing at Iowa and totaled four sacks.

Sayre Bedinger of NFL Mocks wrote about how the Chiefs landed themselves an “undrafted gem” with Ben Niemann. Here’s part of what Bedinger had to say,

"It didn’t matter what kind of offense Iowa was facing — they rarely took Niemann off the field and would utilize him almost as a nickel defensive back. Niemann didn’t always line up directly opposite slot receivers, but he would split out extremely wide and often play well away from the box."

When first looking at Niemann’s stats, they don’t really jump off the page, but Bedinger’s write-up made sense as to why. His coverage play was outstanding and it’ll be difficult for the Chiefs to part ways with him this summer.
