The KC Chiefs have a lot of players trying to make their roster for the 2018 season. Who are some of the lesser known guys who could end up making the final cut?

Usually when it comes to the summer months for the NFL, Kansas City Chiefs fans keep their attention locked on the more well-known players. That’s absolutely common, but there are always a few unknown guys who end up making a name for themselves during the preseason and land on the active roster.

That’s what we’re going to go over today. Who are the lesser known Chiefs players who could actually end up making a push for the active roster? Let’s take a look.

GEHRIG DIETER

When it comes to the bigger names among the non-starters, Gehrig Dieter is a player that many Chiefs fans seem to know about. He played his college ball at Alabama and signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent last year.

Not long ago, KC Kingdom’s Chris Taylor wrote about Dieter’s abilities and how he shined at the minicamp practice. With some open spots on the roster, Dieter should be able to make a push this summer and show he’s worthy of being on the team this year.

Dieter originally attended Bowling Green State and had a 1,000 yard season there as a junior while also hauling in ten touchdowns. He transferred to Alabama for his senior year and while the numbers weren’t great, he was still a part of a team that played for a National Championship.

The Chiefs are mostly set at wide receiver, but there’s room for a few extra bodies. Dieter could be one of those extra bodies.
