Armani Watts

Armani Watts probably got the most hype of all the draft picks in this class for Kansas City. Watts will be a perfect compliment opposite of Berry. He is an excellent deep threat defender that has the closing speed to come up and stop the run, and he does so beautifully.

He has a peculiar way of tackling at times which doesn’t appear to be as fluid as many experts would prefer, but he makes the finishing play more times than not.

There is little doubt in my own mind that Watts will be the starting free safety for the Chiefs before preseason play is finished. He is simply more talented with more tools at his disposal than his competition.

Watts will be a huge playmaker for Kansas City right out of the gate. The value of this 4th round pick may end up being tops in the NFL. When experts redraft the 2018 class, look for Watts to jump up to the first round.

Kansas City clearly had a plan. The pick of Watts filled a need, as well as solidified the three Chiefs picks ahead of him. The Kansas City defense will have lots of speed and lots of movement as these kids play role specific positions throughout the game.

Look for Watts to become a household name sooner than later. He should become a fan favorite soon, as his style of play is one that can’t be ignored on film.
