NUMBER 9: ALLEN BAILEY

Last week I covered veteran players who could be out the door this offseason and Allen Bailey made that list. It’s not necessarily that Bailey is a bad player, but more of that he’s getting older and the Chiefs could save money by cutting him.

If Bailey remains on the roster, he’ll have to put up some great numbers for the 2019 offseason. It’s unlikely the Chiefs would bring him back, as Bailey is 29 years old and is showing signs of slowing down.

In 2016, Bailey only played in five games and was injured for the rest of the year. He was back for 14 games in 2017, but only notched two sacks during the regular season. Those are hardly the numbers the Chiefs were expecting when they granted him an extension in the 2014 season.

There’s a chance Bailey doesn’t even make the roster out of the preseason, but if he does, his job isn’t done. He’ll still have a lot of work to do.
