JUSTIN HOUSTON

This name is hard to put on the list, as Justin Houston is far and away a fan favorite at giving opposing offenses trouble. The 2011 third round pick broke out big in 2013, landing at number 49 on the NFL Network’s top 100 players.

Hopefully [Houston will] break away from the overrated perception while he still has two to three seasons left in his prime

In 2013 he looked underrated, even to the point that he may have caused fans to wonder who this Justin Houston guy was. After a monster 22 sack 2014 season, Houston was awarded a big contract to that offseason, which ranks him as the second highest paid 3-4 outside linebacker in the league.

Injury plagued 2015 and 2016 seasons stunted his production, but 2017 saw those numbers starting to come back. Houston is just as good at defending the run as he is at rushing the quarterback and his leadership on the field is invaluable at helping lead the Chiefs defense.

This is why it’s hard to put Houston’s name on this list. He’s a dominant pass rusher, Chiefs fans have seen it, but the injuries have hurt his stock. He hasn’t lived up to his massive contract that he was given a few years ago. Hopefully he’ll break away from the overrated perception while he still has two to three seasons left in his prime.
