The Kansas City Chiefs have a lot of great players, but they definitely have their share of overrated ones in that bunch.

A player who puts on the Red and Gold on Sunday typically holds a special place in the heart of Chiefs Kingdom. Kansas City Chiefs fans make no bones about their feelings towards certain players from week to week. This was especially truth the last five seasons when the question was asked, “Is Alex Smith a good quarterback?”

Some argued that he was underrated while others argued that he was overrated. Terms like “pedestrian” and “game manager” caused most of the Kingdom to believe that he was somewhat overrated. Now that he is gone which Chiefs players might incite a debate about being overrated? Let’s take a look at a few of those names.

DEE FORD

It’s easy to see here why this former first round draft pick can be looked at as overrated. In four seasons, Dee Ford has only started 26 out of 51 he’s played in and he has missed 13 games due to injury.

His best season came in 2016 when he accumulated ten sacks and in no other season has he had more than four. Not only was Chiefs Kingdom scratching their heads at John Dorsey‘s pick on the first night of the draft in 2014, but now there is evidence to support second guessing that pick.

Had Dee Ford been chosen in a later round, terms like “draft bust” may never have been used. Unless Ford puts together a couple of monster seasons it looks like he’ll continue to be overrated.
