PRIMETIME BABY!

The Kansas City Chiefs are tied with the most amount of primetime games with nine other teams with the limit of primetime games being issued out being at five. Now that’s not to say the Chiefs won’t have more added later on or even have some removed due to flex scheduling, but for now, five is the number! Hooray!

The first primetime game of the season will come in week four on the road in Denver against the loathed Broncos at Mile High Stadium for Monday Night Football. That might not sound like as big of a match-up as it used to be, as the Chiefs have had Denver’s number since the second half of the 2015 season. Patrick Mahomes will get his second crack at the Broncos, posting his first ever win against them in week 17 last year.

The second primetime game will be two weeks later on Sunday Night Football against the New England Patriots. This is a team that the Chiefs haven’t been afraid of over the years, so it’ll be interesting to see if Mahomes can go in there and get a W.

The Chiefs will then be out of the primetime spotlight until late November when they’ll play the Rams in Mexico City in week 11 on Monday Night Football. That obviously brings a key storyline with the whole Chiefs vs Marcus Peters drama.

The final two primetime games will be in weeks 15 and 16 respectively, as the Chiefs will host the Chargers for Thursday Night Football and then will have a long week off to prep for a Sunday night match-up against the Seahawks and their vaunted 12th man.

Out of all of these primetime games, the Chiefs/Rams one is obviously the most intriguing. Even if the Rams hadn’t acquired Peters this offseason, the Chiefs going up against the up and coming Los Angeles Rams would still have been a fun match-up.
