SAFETY

Readers might have noticed that I put KC’s first three draft needs on the defensive side of the ball. The Chiefs have a talented roster on the offensive side, but it’s time for a reload on defense. The absence of Eric Berry last season was clearly noticeable, from a leadership standpoint as well as having his play making ability on the field.

With the release of Ron Parker, the Chiefs have since added former Pittsburg Steeler Robert Golden. Daniel Sorensen and Eric Murray are also a part of this group, but don’€™t leave a huge impression of talent depth. It might be a good time for Kansas City to add a play maker to this group.

Alabama’€™s Ronnie Harrison plays aggressively and with attitude. He i€™s a big hit type of safety that can bring a lot of excitement to the field and strike a little fear into opposing receivers. He’s big enough to cover tight ends, but is fast enough to run with wide receivers.

With Harrison’s aggressive style he could also be used in certain blitz packages. Pairing Harrison with Berry could be a tandem that other teams have to spend more time preparing for. It’d be cool to see the Chiefs move back into being a top-tier defense that they were just a few seasons ago. Adding a solid safety in Ronnie Harrison will help make that a reality.
