WILDCATS WHO COULD BE DRAFTED – MATTHEW MCCRANE (KICKER)

Another “non-sexy” position that the K-State Wildcats are sending to the NFL Draft is their kicker, Matthew McCrane. Kickers usually are a late round pick-up type of thing (unless you’re the Bucs and trade everything for a kicker who will flame out after a year) and that’s why McCrane will probably be a seventh rounder or go undrafted.

McCrane will have to prove that he can connect on field goals from 50+ yards out, as he missed three of his six attempts from that length. That’s a big part of kicking in the NFL and a lot of games come down to a long field goal attempt.

McCrane does have good accuracy, however, and connected on all 38 of his extra point attempts last year. He was one of the best kickers in the country last season and should land with a team, but he might not be one of the few kickers who gets picked up over draft weekend.
