Kansas City Chiefs: Running back Youth Breakdown

The running back position may be the most dominant for the Chiefs. Kareem Hunt, Spencer Ware, Damien Williams, Charcandrick West, and Akeem Hunt make up the depth chart for the Chiefs, as of now.

Of course, the Chiefs running back depth chart cannot be discussed without bringing up the young phenom in Kareem Hunt. After a record-breaking season as a rookie, Hunt searches for another successful season for the Chiefs, as he holds the number one spot in the running back rotation.

Ware enters the 2018 season coming off a knee injury last season in a preseason performance against the Seattle Seahawks. Ware’s career for the Chiefs is nothing short of impressive. Keep an eye out for Ware to come back stronger than ever next season and accent Hunt as running back number two.

During the free agency period, Veach signed former Miami Dolphins running back Damien Williams to a one-year deal. Williams adds depth, and athleticism to the running back corps for the Chiefs. Williams, and West will be fighting for the third running back position during the offseason, which is something fans should keep an eye on until the regular season officially starts.

The undrafted free agent gem in Charcandick West is coming off of an injury-packed 2017 season. If West can stay healthy this season, he may see the field as much as Williams, if not more, due to experience. West will be an interesting prospect to keep an eye on for the next few months for the Chiefs.

At the bottom of the totem pole lies running back Akeem Hunt. Sure, there is not much tape to dictate Hunt’s season with the Chiefs, but from what the organization witnessed was a speedy running back with room to grow. Hunt could make the roster this season, but with the talent ahead of him, it could be a struggle.
