2018 NFL Mock Draft: KC Chiefs go best available with every pick

ROUND 3 – PICK 14 (78TH OVERALL): KERRYON JOHNSON, RB (AUBURN)
This selection would make a lot of Chiefs fans scratch their heads, as they drafted Kareem Hunt in the third round a year ago and he turned out to be an absolute stud as a rookie. The Chiefs also signed Damien Williams and they still have Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West (though one, if not both, will likely be gone).
Still, running backs get injured pretty easily, so adding another through the draft isn’t the WORST idea in the world. The best available player in round three was Kerryon Johnson out of Auburn, who was the SEC Offensive Player of the Year in 2017.
Johnson had a MONSTER junior year with the Tigers, carrying the rock 285 times for 1,391 yards and an astonishing 18 touchdowns. He was a huge part of Auburn’s offense and that success should be able to translate to the NFL.
This pick won’t happen, but it’d be interesting to see Hunt and Johnson in the Chiefs’ backfield along with Damien Williams sprinkled in there as well. The Chiefs could get back to their running ways and that’d sure be glorious.
What the experts are saying…
"Sometimes he plays with that Le’Veon Bell style where he glides until he sees it and then ‘bang’. I thought he was a really competitive runner this year and he can play on all three downs so he has early value.” — NFC team regional scout, NFL.com"
