When it comes to the NFL Draft, a lot of teams say they’ll take the best available player. That’s exactly what the KC Chiefs did in the latest 2018 NFL Mock Draft.

Every year during draft season, the general manager or head coach of a team will be known to say “We’re going to draft the best available player”. Sometimes that’s a good strategy, but other times, that particular player doesn’t really fit that team’s set of needs.

With our sixth mock draft of draft season, I decided to go with the “best available player” strategy for the Kansas City Chiefs. I used Fanspeak’s “On the Clock” simulator and utilized Fanspeak’s big board.

The big boards can make a huge difference because sometimes a player might be a second round grade, but on other big boards, he could be a fifth round grade. That could cause players to drop or be elevated depending on which big board you use for your mock draft.

For this mock draft’s theme, I took the best available player with each selection no matter what the position was. This actually didn’t go all that badly, although it did mean that the Chiefs’ first three picks were offensive players. After that, however, things played themselves out pretty well and the Chiefs actually got several decent players.

Without further ado, let’s jump into our sixth mock draft of the offseason!
