GETTING NICE PROSPECTS

A big help when it comes to rebuilding is restocking the farm system and that’s done through trades. Many of us figured once the Royals gave so many of these guys one year deals was because if the team wasn’t going anywhere at the trade deadline, players could be shipped off for prospects.

This is usually why struggling teams have better farm systems, as they’re trading their players to bulk up that minor league system and help make them relevant again. Now the Royals first succeeded with their rebuild through drafting players, but that hasn’t been a great area for them the past decade or so.

If the Royals aren’t contending at the deadline (and if they are, neat!), then flipping guys like Duda, Jay, and Moose for a few prospects would probably put the fan base at ease a little bit moving forward. Is it better than winning and competing? No, but that wasn’t really the plan this year anyway.
