ROUND 7 – PICK 15 (233RD OVERALL) – DAMON WEBB, SAFETY (OHIO STATE)

The Ron Parker era in Kansas City is no more and the Chiefs now have to look at options for a safety across from Eric Berry. Eric Murray has been with the team for several years now and could get a shot at starting, but Daniel Sorensen is the likely starter.

Damon Webb out of Ohio State could provide a prospect to groom over the next few years. Webb had the best season of his college career in 2017, totaling 61 tackles and five interceptions.

The worry with Webb is that he didn’t really breakout until this past season. He is a bit undersized, but has experience playing both corner and safety, which is something the Chiefs could end up liking about Webb.

Ultimately if the Chiefs are going to add a safety, they might be inclined to do so earlier on in the draft. Damon Webb gives them versatility though, as they could make him either a corner or a safety. Maybe one position ends up being one that sticks for Webb with the Chiefs.

What the experts are saying…

"Opportunistic. Grabbed five interceptions this season and has two career pick-sixes. Defensive MVP of the Cotton Bowl against Sam Darnold and USC. -Lance Zierlein, NFL.com"
