2014 NCAA TOURNAMENT

The last time the Huskers got to put on their dancing shoes was in 2014 in what was a fun-filled year for Nebraska basketball fans. That was the first year that the team played in Pinnacle Bank Arena (now known as “The Vault”) and the rabid fans helped out the home team, pushing them to a 19-13 record overall and 11-7 record in the Big Ten.

When Nebraska beat Wisconsin in the final regular season game, it was unlike anything I had experienced before. I hadn’t seen a good Husker hoops team since I was seven years old, so watching them close out a winning season was a blast.

Nebraska fell to Ohio State in the quarter finals in that year’s tournament, but still got a bid into the big tourney in Tim Miles’ second year at the helm. It was their first time dancing as members of the Big Ten.

The Huskers were an 11-seed in the West Region and eventually lost to Baylor 74-60. Even though the end result wasn’t what Husker fans wanted, that tournament bid was the first time Big Red gone dancing in over a decade. Let’s hope it doesn’t take that long again.
