1998 NCAA TOURNAMENT

Head coach Danny Nee was near the end of his tenure in Lincoln, but led the Huskers to a 20-12 regular season record and 10-6 Big 12 record in the 1997-1997 season. Nebraska had been absent from the big dance for four years, but were able to get back to the promise land.

Nebraska would play just two ranked opponents during the regular season (both being against Kansas), but still made their mark and wound up in the tournament. Something that helped boost the Huskers’ resumé that year was defeating Baylor in the Big 12 Tournament.

Nebraska demolished the Bears to the tune of a 65-46 score and would go on to lose the next day to Kansas once again. They lost to Kansas three times that season.

Nebraska faced Arkansas in the first round of March Madness and lost 74-65. Husker fans had no idea at the time that it’d be a long time before their next appearance in the big dance.
