1992 NCAA TOURNAMENT

Nebraska didn’t fall into irrelevancy the next season, but they definitely took a step back. They finished 19-10 with a conference record of 7-7, good for fifth in the Big 8.

The Cornhuskers had a tough schedule that year, facing nine ranked teams and going 3-6 against those teams. One of the highlights was knocking off the third-ranked Kansas Jayhawks late in the season.

The mojo didn’t follow the Cornhuskers past the regular season as they were blown out in both the conference tournament (Oklahoma) and March Madness (Connecticut). Nee had gotten the Huskers to back-to-back tournaments, but the team still was unable to deliver a victory.

Fans hoped for the next year to be their third straight appearance and for that whole “third time’s a charm” thing to work its magic for Big Red.
