ALL-TIME LEADERS IN RUSHING YARDS – NUMBER 2: AMEER ABDULLAH (4,588)

Nebraska Running Back from 2011-2014

Fear Ameer! That’s right, number two all-time for Nebraska football in rushing yards is none other than Ameer Abdullah, who blew Ahman Green’s total yardage out of the water. Abdullah not only is the first player on this list to amass the 4,000 yard mark, but he even went over 4,500 yard mark!

Abdullah was at Nebraska for all four years of his collegiate career and ran for 4,588 yards off of 813 carries and he found the end zone 39 times. He also was effective at catching the ball, totaling 690 receiving yards and seven scores.

Abdullah is the first guy on this list to have rushed for 1,000 yards in THREE seasons while in Lincoln. He did so from 2012-2014 and was an absolute wrecking ball offensively for the Huskers.

The most rushing yards Abdullah had in a season was 1,690 as a junior in 2013 and he had nine touchdowns that year. He destroyed his touchdown total as a senior, however, racking up 19 of them in what would be Bo Pelini’s final season coaching at Nebraska.

Ameer Abdullah was a second round pick by the Detroit Lions in the 2015 NFL Draft and he’s still with the Lions as of the end of the 2017 season. He hasn’t been as lethal in the pros as he was while at Nebraska, but injuries have played a big part of that during Abdullah’s time in the NFL.

He’s second all-time in rushing yards for the Cornhuskers.
