ALL-TIME LEADERS IN RUSHING YARDS – NUMBER 3: AHMAN GREEN (3,880)

Nebraska Running Back from 1995-1997

Ahman Green is one of the best running backs in Nebraska history and he was a huge part in why the Huskers won the National Championship in both 1995 and 1997. In each of those seasons, Green rushed for over 1,000 yards and double digit touchdowns.

As a freshman in 1995, Green put up 1,086 yards and 13 touchdowns and Nebraska knew they had something special with him. That was indicated by their undefeated season and National Championship after demolishing Florida in the Orange Bowl.

As great as Green’s 1995 campaign was, he wasn’t finished showing off to the Husker faithful. He had another crazy season in him and it was showcased to the world in 1997.

That 1997 season was insane, as Green racked up 1,877 rushing yards and a whopping 22 touchdowns. The Huskers went undefeated that year and won the National Championship after knocking off Tennessee in the Orange Bowl.

Green was a third round pick by the Seattle Seahawks in the 1998 NFL Draft and spent 12 years in the NFL. Eight of those years were with the Green Bay Packers, where Green made it to the Pro Bowl in four straight years (2001-2004).

Ahman Green had both the legendary career at Nebraska and an impressive resumé in the NFL. He will go down as one of the best Cornhuskers of all-time.
