ALL-TIME LEADERS IN RUSHING YARDS – NUMBER 7: CALVIN JONES (3,153)

Nebraska Running Back from 1991-1993

Calvin Jones was yet another great running back that the Cornhuskers had in the 1990s. During his three years at Nebraska, Jones never rushed for less than 900 yards and had double digit touchdowns every year.

He finished his career in Lincoln with 461 carries for 3,153 yards and 40 touchdowns. Pretty impressive numbers for just three seasons.

Jones never had a bad year in a Huskers uniform, but his best probably came in 1992. He had 168 carries for 1,210 yards and 14 touchdowns. Jones also had a receiving touchdown that year.

Nebraska would go 9-3 in 1992, but would lose in the Orange Bowl to Florida State that year. In fact, all three years that Jones was the running back for the Cornhuskers, they’d lose in the Orange Bowl every year. Once to Miami (1991) and the other two times to Florida State.

Calvin Jones took his talents to the NFL and was drafted in the third round of the 1994 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Raiders. He spent two years with the Raiders (one in LA and the other in Oakland) and his third and final year in the pros was spent with the eventual Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers.

Jones is the third Husker to appear on this list who went on to win a Super Bowl. Go Big Red!
