Worst March Madness losses

’05-’06 First round against Bradley

One year after losing in the first round to Bucknell, the Jayhawks would do it again, this time to Bradley. Bradley isn’t the name of some gym rat, Bradley is a University for those who were wondering, and they beat Kansas on the biggest stage in their schools history.

The Jayhawks had one of the best freshman classes in school history. Brandon Rush, Julian Wright and Mario Chalmers were all part of that freshman class. They were all future NCAA Champs. Just not this year.

After going 25-8 and winning the conference title along with Texas, the Jayhawks could do no better than a 4 seed in the tournament. Their opening game was against a school no one had heard of, for the second straight season. Bradley.

Bradley shot over 50% from three and the youth and inexperience of Kansas was never able to overcome the bright lights of March Madness. Bradley would win the game by a score of 77-73.

Back to back years Kansas was knocked out of the tournament on day one. Imagine rumblings of firing Bill Self back then?
