Kansas Basketball: Worst March Madness losses
By Chris Taylor
Worst March Madness losses
’04-’05 1st round against Bucknell
The ’04-’05 season was the first of 14 straight conference titles for the Jayhawks. In Bill Self’s second season, his Jayhawks finished 23-7 and tied the Oklahoma Sooners for 1st place in the conference.
The roster included seniors Keith Langford, Aaron Miles, and Wayne Simien with freshmen Darnell Jackson and Russell Robinson.
The Jayhawks found themselves with a 3 seed in the tournament, but many still had them as favorites to at least make the Elite 8.
Kansas would last around two hours instead. The mighty Bucknell Bison had other plans for the Jayhawks. The win for Bucknell would win them an ESPY for “Best Upset” as they would fall to Wisconsin two days later. It was the first tournament win for any team out of the Patriot League.
Kansas would lose this one by one.
This wouldn’t be the only first round lost for Kansas.
