Kansas Basketball: Worst March Madness losses

Worst March Madness losses
’14-’15 2nd round against Wichita State
The season wasn’t one of the best for Bill Self and Kansas. The Jayhawks entered the tournament as a 2 seed nonetheless. The Jayhawks lost eight players from the year before, but managed to have a decent season, going 27-9 on the season.
The Jayhawks were loaded with young talent. Perry Ellis, Wayne Seldon, Frank Mason, and freshmen Kelly Oubre, Devonte’ Graham and Svi Mykhailiuk just to name a few.
Wichita State had a heck of a roster on their hands as well. Led by Fred Van Fleet and Ron Baker, with former Jayhawk Conner Frankamp as a redshirt transfer, the Shockers continued their relevance from the season before, when they became the first team ever to go 31-0 in the regular season.
The Jayhawks came in to the 2nd game of opening weekend off of a 19 point win against New Mexico State, the Shockers off a five point win against Indiana.
This was one of the most hyped games in tourney history, two inner state rivals who don’t like each other, and don’t play each other. Wichita State dominated Kansas, earning state bragging rights and accomplishing something fans had wanted for a long time. The Shockers made Kansas look like the mid major program that has no business playing with the big boys.
If Wichita State and Kansas Basketball is a discussion, this game here is mentioned. But only by one side. That is why it makes this list.
