Kansas Basketball: Worst March Madness losses
By Chris Taylor
Kansas Basketball finds themselves back in postseason play. Over the years the Jayhawks have found themselves knocked out early by much lesser teams.
March Madness and Kansas Basketball go to together like milk and cookies. March Madness is the Simon to Kansas’ Garfunkel. For the 29th straight year the Jayhawks will be in the big dance. The 47th trip overall. Along the way there have been some pretty wins, and some ugly losses.
With all the good that is Kansas Basketball, some bad comes with the territory. The Jayhawks aren’t any different from any other team in the league. Sometimes a snake in the grass strikes.
Bill Self, a Hall of Fame coach, has had is share of bad tournament losses. The Hall of Fame coach before him was not immune to these either. An early round loss is hard to swallow for anyone, especially hard for the blue-bloods of college basketball.
This season Kansas will be looking at yet another one or two seed in the big tournament. An accomplishment all in itself. Bill Self has had his Jayhawks seeded one or two in 11 of the last 12 tournaments. Five times since 2004 Kansas has failed to make it out of the first weekend.
