2018 NFL Mock Draft: KC Chiefs attempt to replace Marcus Peters
ROUND 4: PICK 22 (122ND OVERALL) – MARQUIS HAYNES, LB (OLE MISS)
A team can never have too many pass rushers, right? That’s the mentality for the KC Chiefs this year and they’re going with back-to-back pass rushing selections here.
Their fourth round pick is Marquis Haynes, who was an absolute beast at getting to the quarterback during his collegiate career. The Rebel racked up 172 tackles (47.5 for loss), 32 sacks, and 12 forced fumbles during his four years at Ole Miss.
Haynes probably could have gone pro after his impressive junior season, but he opted to stay for his senior campaign. He did well as a senior too, totaling 45 tackles (11 for loss), seven and a half sacks, and three forced fumbles. He also had an interception that too.
"Haynes is a likely fit for teams looking for a designated pass rusher for sub-packages, but he’ll need to become more toolsy and unpredictable as an NFL rusher if he wants to duplicate the success he had in college. — “Bottom Line” on Marquis Haynes, NFL.com’s Draft Tracker"
When it comes to this year’s draft, I’m all about adding as many cornerbacks and pass rushing options as possible. That can only improve Kansas City’s chance of hitting on a top notch defensive force and getting their defense back to what it used to be.
