ROUND 3: PICK 22 (86TH OVERALL) – LORENZO CARTER, LB (GEORGIA)

Cornerback and pass rush are the two most important defensive positions to address for the KC Chiefs in this year’s draft. They obviously touched on cornerback earlier, but now it’s time for them to add a linebacker. They do so with Lorenzo Carter out of Georgia.

Carter was a big deal coming out of high school, but never quite lived up to the hype for the Bulldogs. He had a decent senior season at Georgia, totaling 62 tackles and four and a half sacks and will now enter the draft hoping to hear his name called on Day 2 at the latest.

"“He was a really big deal coming out but I didn’t think he developed as much after his freshman year as I expected him to. He’s been in a lot of different roles over there but this year I thought he looked more aggressive and more comfortable outside.” — SEC area scout for NFC team, NFL.com’s Draft Tracker"

The best stat from Carter’s days at Georgia is his ability to force fumbles. He was able to force six total fumbles during his Bulldog days and even more impressive, he recovered all six of them.

The Chiefs traded away one game changer on defense. If Carter can keep being a forced fumble machine, then this could end up being a steal.
