FREE AGENT WISH LIST IN 2018 – CAMERON MAYBIN (OUTFIELD)

EDITOR’S NOTE – This article was written before Cameron Maybin signed with the Miami Marlins.

Cameron Maybin rounds out my “wish list” and there was a time when the Royals were interested in bringing him on. Maybin is a center fielder, who provides similar range and speed to what Lorenzo Cain did during his time in Kansas City.

I like the possibility of bringing Maybin in because he’d obviously be the center fielder and Alex Gordon could stay in left. Maybin had some good years at the dish too, batting .315 with the Tigers in 2016.

He signed with the Angels last year and was traded to the Astros, where he’d go on to win his first World Series ring. He only batted .186 with the Astros, but stole four bases (33 total in 2017) and really fits the Royals type from those fun runs.

Unfortunately, the Royals probably won’t be bringing Maybin on. They appear to be satisfied with their outfield options and don’t seem to want to make any additional free agent signings.

That’s too bad. Cameron Maybin could have been a special player in Kansas City.
